Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts emanate from the Amazonian Jungle where the trees grow wild as an intergral part of the tropical rain forest. Pods containing up to 25 seeds fall from the canopy and are collected by natives and sold on for processing. Although crop size is difficult to measure, it has been estimated at 40,000 metric tonnes per annum.
We source shelled brazil kernels from processors and packers primarily in Bolivia from where the goods are transported to Arica in Chile before shipment in containers around the world. The major markets for this product are primarily Northern Europe and North America.
